Bhubaneswar, May 15: Five candidates are murder accused, 16 have faced attempt to murder allegations and 11 are facing cases related to crimes against women out of total 265 candidates, including 41 women, have filed nomination for 35 Assembly constituencies of Odisha going to poll in the second phase on May 20
The report of Odisha Election Watch and Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) released on Monday stated that 87 candidates have declared pending criminal cases against them in their affidavit with 70 among them having serious criminal cases.
While five candidates are murder accused, 16 have faced attempt to murder allegations and 11 are facing cases related to crimes against women.
According to the ADR report, 28 candidates of BJP, 17 of Congress and nine of BJD have declared criminal cases in their affidavits.
The ADR has declared 14 Assembly segments under red alert category where three or more contesting candidates have criminal cases against them.
As many as 35 Assembly segments under Bargarh, Sundargarh, Balangir, Kandhamal and Aska Lok Sabha constituencies will go to polls in the second phase on May 20.
