Kendrapara, Aug 13: In a tragic incident, an 11-year-old boy drowned while taking bath in a pond in Aul area of Odisha’s Kendrapara district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Ayushman Kumar Jena, son of Ravi Narayan Jena and the incident has been reported from Sanmang village under Aul police limits in the district.
As per reports, Ayushman was taking a bath in a pond as part of purification rituals when he slipped into deep water and drowned.
Fortunately, some children playing nearby raised an alarm, prompting villagers to rush to the spot. They searched the pond and managed to pull out Ayushman and rushed him to a nearby hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Upon getting the information, Aul police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem
