Odisha: PM Modi to launch “Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan” in Puri on May 29

Bhubaneswar, May 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to launch the "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan" in Puri, Odisha, on May 29. This nationwide campaign, aimed at transforming agriculture through grassroots innovation, will continue until June 12.

Joining the Prime Minister at the launch will be Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Smt. Pravati Parida, along with Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Shri Gokulananda Mallick.

The campaign seeks to amplify and implement key agricultural initiatives of the Central Government at the grassroots level. A high-level preparatory meeting for the event was held at the Krushi Bhawan conference hall, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo. Principal Secretary Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee confirmed that all arrangements for the campaign's grand rollout are in their final stages.

The day's events will begin with the dignitaries offering prayers at the Shri Jagannath Temple in Puri, followed by participation in the Trirangayatra. The formal launch of the campaign will take place at the Birgobindapur Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Sakhigopal, where a Krishi Ratha will also be flagged off.

As part of the broader initiative, PM Modi will later attend a series of events, including a program at CIFA, the Mango Festival at the Central Horticultural Experiment Station, and an event hosted by OUAT. These programs will also include a tree-planting drive under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative.

A large number of students and farmers are expected to participate in the campaign’s launch and related activities.

The preparatory meeting was attended by senior officials, including Director of Agriculture Shri Shubham Saxena, OUAT Vice Chancellor Dr. Prabhat Kumar Roul, and representatives from CIFA, IIHR-CHES, ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and OUAT.
