Bhubaneswar, May 3: Ollywood actress Zeena Samal has joined Biju Janata Dal soon after announcing her resignation from BJP on Friday. The actress reportedly decided to quit BJP after being denied a ticket for Assembly polls in Odisha.
Zeena expressed her gratitude after joining the regional party in the presence of Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra at Sankha Bhaban in Bhubaneswar. She remarked that joining BJD, a party known for its respect towards women, was a stroke of good fortune for her. Zeena cited inspiration from the Chief Minister's principles and extended her thanks to CM Naveen Patnaik for welcoming her into the party.
It was noted that Zeena was an aspirant for the party ticket for the Bhogarai Assembly seat. However, when the BJP nominated Asish Patra for the same seat, the actress made the decision to part ways with the party.
It's worth mentioning that in March 2023, Zeena and her husband Rudra Panigrahi had joined the saffron party in the presence of Lok Sabha member Pratap Sarangi. Their decision to join the party came alongside 80 other individuals.
