Greater Noida, Sep 11: Play was abandoned due to overnight rain and wet outfield for the third consecutive day of the one-off Test between Afghanistan and New Zealand at Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground, here on Wednesday.
Umpires called off play for Day 3, due to overnight downpour and bad ground conditions after inspections around 9.15 am on Wednesday.
There was a downpour on Tuesday evening for about two to three hours. Again rain resumed for another one hour around 7am on Wednesday morning, sources said.
Heavy rain and wet ground conditions prompted umpires Sharfuddoula and Kumar Dharmasena to call off the day before the scheduled start at 9.30 am.
With three days of play being abandoned without toss, the one-off Test is unlikely to yield any result, if at all there is any action on the final two days.
