Cuttack, Ap 8: The Cuttack district administration has placed notorious criminal Sakil Khan, linked to goon operations and cow smuggling, under the National Security Act (NSA). The Tigiria Police Station executed the order following directives from the Cuttack District Collector.

Khan is lodged in Athagarh Radharamanpur, Adarsh Jail under Section 3(2) of the NSA due to potential threats to public order. The NSA action was recommended by the Cuttack Security Superintendent on 6th February and approved by the Collector under the 1980 NSA provisions.

Sakil Khan faces multiple criminal cases, including violations of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Orissa Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, along with other offences dating from 2025.

Authorities stated the measure aims to safeguard public safety and ensure law and order in the district.
