Cuttack, May 19: Police in Athagarh’s Tigiria area publicly declared an accused absconding by beating drums in Pankal village following a court order. The absconder has been identified as Abdul Rahim Khan of Pankal village under Tigiria police limits.

According to reports, a case had earlier been registered against Abdul at Badamba police station. Despite repeated notices from the court directing him to appear, he failed to comply. Following his continued absence, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him. As he still did not appear before the court, he was officially declared absconding.

Acting on the court’s directive, police personnel reached the village and made the public announcement in the presence of senior police officials.

Police officials said Abdul has been directed to appear before the court within 15 days. Failing this, his movable and immovable properties will be attached and further stringent legal action will be initiated as per court orders.
