Reliance donates Rs 21 crores for Assam flood recovery

Nita M Ambani, Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, has pledged Rs 21 crores to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to help families impacted by devastating floods in Assam. This financial contribution supplements ongoing grassroots operations launched by Reliance Foundation and Vantara. These teams are actively working across the state to restore essential services and provide immediate comfort to displaced residents. Assam routinely faces severe seasonal flooding driven by the Brahmaputra river network, which regularly disrupts livelihoods, damages local infrastructure, and forces thousands to flee their homes.

Expanding Ground Level Operations

Teams from Reliance Foundation are focusing their intensive efforts on the severely affected districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo. Their primary goal is to deliver vital recovery support to at least 50,000 individuals who require urgent assistance. Current on-ground initiatives involve fixing damaged water supply systems and installing modern water purification units to guarantee safe drinking water. Furthermore, volunteers have set up community kitchens to serve hot meals to displaced citizens. They are also desilting and repairing local health centres so medical facilities can function properly again.

Caring For Vulnerable Animals

Vantara teams are conducting targeted, door-to-door veterinary campaigns to treat livestock and community animals caught in the disaster zone. These critical animal welfare efforts run parallel to the public health services and emergency shelter provisioning carried out by the wider Reliance family. Reliance volunteers are working in tight coordination with local government authorities to ensure relief materials reach the correct locations without unnecessary delays.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared his deep appreciation on social media platforms. He fondly recalled the Foundation's helpful interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
