Puri, July 19: Marking an end to the nine-day sojourn, the holy trinity, Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra, and Lord Balabhadra, returned to the sanctum sanctorum of Srimandir in Puri today.
The Niladri Bije ritual began after the traditional offering of Rasagolla by Lord Jagannath to Goddess Laxmi to woo her to give permission to enter the Srimandir after a nine-day sojourn.
Thereafter, the Goti Pahandi rituals commenced with Lord Balabhadra, followed by Devi Subhadra and Lord Jagannath, being ceremoniously placed atop the ‘Ratna Singhasan’ inside the sanctum sanctorum.
Worth mentioning, the Adhara Pana ritual was performed yesterday in which the temple servitors offered the drink in the pitchers to the lords, and soon after the earthen pots were broken on the chariots to liberate the souls, spirits, and other invisible beings residing in the chariots.
