India’s deaf cricket squad launches official kits for South Africa.
Fresh blue threads will adorn the Indian Deaf Cricket Team as they head to Pretoria for a high-stakes bilateral series against South Africa starting April 25. The Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA) officially showcased the new jerseys during a ceremony in New Delhi, signaling the squad's readiness for two One Day Internationals and three T20 matches. These fixtures are scheduled at the Sinoville Cricket Club, providing a global stage for specially-abled athletes to demonstrate their elite sporting caliber.
Virender Singh leads the national side as captain, supported by vice-captain Sai Akash. The roster features diverse talent from across the country, including Odisha’s Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, highlighting the inclusive reach of the sport within the Indian domestic circuit. IDCA President Sumit Jain expressed immense confidence in the group’s preparation, noting that the players are eager to compete for the prestigious title on foreign soil.
Significant backing from organizations like the Serum Institute of India and KFC India has been vital in facilitating this international tour. CEO Roma Balwani emphasized that such bilateral series serve as an excellent platform to promote disability sports. Furthermore, the IDCA acknowledged the support of ICC and BCCI Chairman Jay Shah, whose involvement continues to elevate the profile of disability cricket initiatives nationwide. International tours for deaf cricket teams have historically faced funding hurdles, but increased corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in 2026 have ensured that Indian athletes receive world-class equipment and exposure.
