Bhubaneswar, May 2: Odisha Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari has expressed deep concern over the recent death of a female student at a private university, calling the incident "unfortunate" and a matter of serious concern. Addressing the media, Pujari stated that the state government has initiated an investigation into the case, emphasizing that the increasing trend of suicides among the youth is alarming and demands immediate attention.
“The cause behind this tragic incident will be thoroughly investigated and the truth will be brought to light,” the minister assured.
Echoing similar sentiments, State Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan confirmed that the police have already begun a formal investigation. “The concerned department has started taking the necessary steps. The government will decide on further action only after the preliminary inquiry is complete,” he said.
In a related development, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba has also voiced serious concern over the death of the Nepali student. In a statement posted on social media platform X, she described the incident as deeply saddening and confirmed that Nepal has begun diplomatic engagements to ensure a fair investigation. “We are in discussions with both the Indian and Odisha governments,” she stated.
The incident has sparked widespread reactions and calls for justice, with both domestic authorities and international stakeholders now closely monitoring the investigation.
