Kathmandu, September 9: The Nepal Army announced on Tuesday that it will take charge of security operations from 10 pm, following 27 hours of violent protests across Kathmandu and other regions. The unrest came shortly after Prime Minister K. P. Sharma Oli tendered his resignation.
In a statement, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information said certain groups were “taking undue advantage of the difficult situation and causing severe damage to citizens and public property.”
The Army further cautioned that all security agencies, including its own forces, would be deployed to curb escalating violence if disturbances persisted.
