Mahindra launches BE 6 Sporteq featuring advanced cabin tech

Indian automaker Mahindra expanded its electric mobility lineup today by introducing the BE 6 Sporteq series. Deliveries for this redesigned electric vehicle are scheduled to begin on August 26, aligning perfectly with the Onam festival. Buyers can select from eight distinct variants, which start at an attractive Rs 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom) through a new Battery-as-a-Service model. This flexible ownership plan charges customers just Rs 3.75 per kilometer for battery usage, cleverly separating the vehicle shell cost from the battery expense. India's electric mobility sector continues expanding rapidly as major automakers introduce flexible leasing structures to accelerate mainstream consumer adoption.

Prices for models with included batteries begin at Rs 19.45 lakh for the base 59kWh setup and peak at Rs 26.95 lakh for premium versions. Mahindra offers 59kWh, 70kWh, and 79kWh battery packs across different trims. This largest 79kWh battery achieves a claimed maximum range of 682 kilometers under MIDC testing. Mechanical output remains robust, generating up to 286 horsepower and 380Nm of torque.

Innovative Cockpit Upgrades

Inside the cabin, higher trims feature an advanced three-screen digital layout spanning the dashboard. This replaces the previous dual-screen setup, offering a horizontally aligned, technology-focused aesthetic. Buyers opting for the exclusive Launch Edition receive a unique Graphite Storm paint finish paired with Racing Tan leatherette upholstery. Four fresh exterior colors, including Rosso Impulso and Ruby Velvet, increase total paint options to twelve.

Smart Software Integration

Automotive technology takes a major leap forward through six new TEQ software suites driven by MAIA artificial intelligence. Google Gemini powers TEQ_Talk, deploying 17 distinct AI agents to manage over 100 vehicle functions. Passengers also gain access to TEQ_Play, bringing first-in-class karaoke, in-car gaming, and Dolby Atmos audio directly to the dashboard. Furthermore, existing BE 6 and XEV owners will receive these software capabilities through over-the-air updates beginning January 2027.

Freedom Edition

Racing enthusiasts can opt for the Formula E Freedom Edition. Drawing direct inspiration from Mahindra Racing, this variant retains the classic two-screen dashboard and signature halo element. It features bold Firestorm Orange interior themes and subtle tricolour exterior accents. Drivers benefit from an exclusive Acceleration Boost function, rocketing from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 6.44 seconds. Mahindra plans to showcase this performance model prominently at the upcoming London E-Prix.
