Guwahati, May 10:Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Sunday met Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya to stake their claim to form the next state government, with Chief Minister-elect Himanta Biswa Sarma at the helm.
If successful, this will mark the third consecutive NDA government in Assam. The alliance first came to power in 2016 under the leadership of Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
Himanta Biswa Sarma, who assumed office as chief minister in 2021, is poised to make history by becoming the first non-Congress leader in Assam to serve two consecutive terms.
