G. Udaygiri, Dec 23: In a spectacular event marking the holy birth of Lord Jesus Christ, the local Christian community in G. Udaygiri organized a grand Candle March to celebrate Christmas. The procession, held with great enthusiasm, saw participation from over 71 different Christian congregations from G. Udaygiri and surrounding areas.
The event included a wide range of Christian denominations, such as the Malikaapodi Baptist Church, Nua Sahi Baptist Church, and Kanabaghiri North India Church, along with congregations from Gaddaguda, Rudangia, Katingia, Shirki, Ratingia, Kalinga, Kumbarakupa, Raikala, Tiangia, and Kurmingia. The participants held lit candles in their hands, symbolizing peace, love, and the message of light that Christmas represents.
The Candle March began at the Bangala area in G. Udaygiri and proceeded through significant locations in the town, including Post Office Square, Bandha Square, Gandhi Square, spreading a message of goodwill and unity. The procession was peaceful and orderly, ensuring a meaningful celebration of the occasion.
During the event, Acharya Kshama Shil Bag from Nua Sahi Baptist Church and Acharya Subodh Paricha from Malikaapodi Matri Church shared heartfelt messages about the spiritual significance of the birth of Jesus Christ. They emphasized themes of humanity, brotherhood, and the importance of fostering peace in society.
The entire event was conducted in a peaceful and organized manner, with extensive security measures put in place by the local police to ensure a smooth and safe celebration.
