Koraput, Oct 25: Odisha Vigilance on Saturday nabbed a treasury official in Koraput while taking bribe.

The accused has been identified as Harischandra Mohapatra, a Class IV staffer of Spl.Treasury, Jeypore.

According to sources, the Odisha Vigilance caught the official while receiving a bribe of Rs 47,000 out of Rs 87,000 finalized for the deal, from a widowed woman to sanction her arrear and pension.

On being informed of the woman’s ordeal, the vigilance sleuths set a trap and caught the tainted official red-handed.

The bribe amout has been seized and the accused has been sent to judicial remand, based on a case registered in this connection, the Vigilance said.
