Bhubaneswar: Odisha is hosting the Senior and Junior National Coaching Camps for Artistic Gymnastics (Men and Women) in preparation for the upcoming Asian Gymnastics Championships. The camps, being held from 16 May to 9 June 2025, have brought together some of the country’s finest gymnasts for focused training under the guidance of experienced national coaches.
A total of 16 athletes, including 8 men and 8 women, along with 4 coaches, are part of the Senior Camp. The Junior Camp includes 6 men and 6 women gymnasts, also supported by 4 coaches. The camp is being led by Mr. Rakesh Patra, a former international gymnast from Odisha, who brings valuable experience and insight to the programme. Additionally, coach Bisweswar Nandi is also mentoring the gymnasts.
Four gymnasts from Odisha have been selected to represent India at the Asian Gymnastics Championships. Pranati Nayak will compete in the Senior Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) category, while Tapan Mohanty will represent in Senior Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG). In the junior category, Pritti Jhankaar will take part in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG), and Biru Chandra Rao has been named as reserve in Junior Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG).
