New Delhi, November 9: On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met veteran BJP leader and Bharat Ratna awardee, LK Advani, at his residence in New Delhi to personally convey birthday greetings and best wishes. Earlier in the day, PM Modi had shared a heartfelt message on social media, recognizing Advani's immense contributions to Indian politics.

Taking to 'X', PM Modi expressed his admiration for Advani, calling him a leader "blessed with a towering vision and intellect." He acknowledged that Advani's life has been dedicated to furthering India's progress, underscoring his commitment to selfless service and steadfast principles. "Greetings to Shri LK Advani Ji on his birthday. A statesman whose contributions have left an indelible mark on India's democratic and cultural landscape. May he continue to be blessed with good health and a long life," the Prime Minister wrote.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also joined in extending his warm wishes to the senior BJP leader, recognizing Advani's distinguished leadership and vision. "Heartfelt birthday greetings to L. K. Advani ji. His lifelong dedication to the nation continues to inspire us all. Prayers for his good health and long life," Jaishankar wrote on 'X'.

Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi (now in Pakistan), Advani has played a significant role in shaping India's political landscape. His political journey began early, with him joining the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a Swayamsevak in 1942. Advani went on to serve as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s National President for three terms, from 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998, and 2004 to 2005, making him the longest-serving president in the party’s history.

Advani served as the Union Home Minister from 1999 to 2004 and later as Deputy Prime Minister in the NDA government led by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee between 2002 and 2004. His leadership has been pivotal in shaping the political ethos of the country.

In March this year, Advani was honored with the Bharat Ratna by President Droupadi Murmu, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the nation. Over his distinguished parliamentary career spanning nearly three decades, Advani has earned widespread respect for his steadfast principles, visionary leadership, and dedication to strengthening India's democratic and cultural framework.
