Puri, June 2: A pall of mystery surrounds the death of a married couple whose bodies were found inside a rented house at Arjunsinghpur village under Satasankha area of Pipili in Puri district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the couple had been married for seven years and were living in a rented accommodation away from their native village. The circumstances leading to their deaths remain unclear.
Suspicion arose when the couple did not open the door of their house for an unusually long time on Tuesday morning. Concerned neighbours broke open the door and found both lying dead inside the house.
On being informed, police from the Satasankha outpost rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. A preliminary investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of death.
While initial indications suggest a possible case of suicide, police have not ruled out any angle and are awaiting the post-mortem report. Further investigation is underway.
