Bhubaneswar, July 9: Mystery shrouded over the death of a 17-year-old girl after her body was found hanging from the ceiling of a house in Mancheswar locality of Bhubaneswar last night.
As per reports, the victim, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was working as a house-help for a couple in the Shriram Nagar slum under Mancheswar police limits in the city.
According to the couple, the girl locked herself in a room on Monday evening and did not respond when called for dinner at 9:30 pm. Suspecting some foul play, they broke into the room through the window and discovered the girl hanging from the ceiling fan with a saree.
On getting the information, Mancheswar police arrived on the spot and brought the body down. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
However, the actual reason behind the girl’s death is yet to be ascertained.
A probe has been initiated into the matter with the assistance of a forensic team and necessary actions will follow, said the police.
