Puri, August 11: A minor boy has reportedly gone missing while fishing in Chilika Lake in Kumarapur village under the Krushnaprasad police station limits of Puri district, raising suspicions of possible abduction.
According to sources, the minor, a resident of the Pipili area, had been staying at a relative’s house in Kumarapur village for the past few days. On Monday evening, he reportedly ventured into Chilika Lake to fish.
However, he went missing while fishing, following which family members and local residents launched a search operation in the area. Despite extensive efforts, no trace of the boy could be found.
The incident has triggered concern and anger among the minor’s family members and local residents. The family subsequently lodged a written complaint at Krushnaprasad police station.
Police have initiated an investigation based on the complaint and are examining all possible angles. Officials are looking into whether the minor was abducted or whether he may have met with an accident while fishing in the lake.
