Delhi, May 14: Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Ltd. Mukesh Ambani on Wednesday flew to Doha. He is likely to meet US President Donald Trump, who is on his Qatar visit.
Ambani will reportedly attend the state dinner that the Emir of Qatar is hosting to Trump at the Lusail Palace in Doha today, said sources.
This is Ambani’s second time to meet Trump.
No comment has yet been received from Reliance Industries officially in this connection.
Worth mentioning, the Reliance selling fuels including gasoline made from crude oil bought from countries such as Russia into the American market.
While business discussions are off the table, his oil-to-retail conglomerate has businesses closely tied to decisions of the US President.
Reliance had last year secured waivers from the US to resume importing crude oil from Venezuela. It however had to stop that in March after Trump revised tariffs on countries buying the South American country's oil.
Ambani’s Qatar visit is considered significant in view of expanding his trade overseas relating to the USA, which is almost under Trump’s disposal.
