Dhenkanal, Oct 10: A woman and her son were crushed to death by a truck while the duo was sleeping in their home at Kuturia Jatra Ground under Mahabirod police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district late last night.
The deceased have been identified as Runu Pradhan and her son Lipu Pradhan, residents of Belabasanta village.
As per reports, the mother-son duo was sleeping at the ground when a speeding truck ran over them. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Fortunately, four other members of the family, who were also sleeping with the duo, had a close shave and escaped unhurt.
On the other hand, the truck driver fled from the spot after the mishap.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and launched a probe into the matter.
