Cuttack, Jan 27: The music world is mourning after the untimely passing of the renowned music director, Abhijeet Majumdar. His close friend and renowned lyricist, Nirmal Nayak, is among those left grappling with the irreplaceable loss. In an emotional post shared on Facebook, Nirmal expressed, “You are no longer here, and it still feels impossible to believe. Slowly, I am coming to terms with the harsh truth of life- death is inevitable, but it’s never easy to accept.”

Abhijeet’s bond with Nirmal dates back to 1988, when their paths first crossed during a drama production. Nirmal recalls, "It was through Manojit Majumdar (Abhijeet’s brother) that I was introduced to you. You started calling me 'Mamu,' and our musical journey began. I was writing songs for radio at the time, and you were the voice of many of those tunes. You began with melodies, but soon we ventured into creating entire albums together."

Nirmal’s tribute paints a vivid picture of their collaboration. From the early days of creating cassettes like "Dhas-Kigala" to their successful hit, "Nadiyare Lagi Thaau Katha," their work together in the music industry was groundbreaking. Nirmal also fondly remembers their involvement in the 1990s cinema, especially when Abhijeet composed the music for "Kashiyaa Kapila," and how they worked together on numerous albums and films over 3,000 albums and around 100 movies.

However, it wasn’t just about their professional lives. They shared a deep personal bond. "I moved to Cuttack, leaving behind my family, and we started a new chapter in our lives. Over time, despite many struggles, we made our mark in the music industry," Nirmal writes, reflecting on their journey. Their partnership, he notes, was always grounded in mutual respect and a shared love for music.

But the passage of time brought distance, and Nirmal confesses that Abhijeet’s shift toward his family and personal life gradually led them to grow apart. "After years of sharing everything, one day, I found myself standing alone. I asked, ‘How did you become so selfish? How did you move on without me?’"

Despite this, Nirmal cherishes the sweet memories and the enduring impact Abhijeet had on his life. "In these 35 years, there are countless beautiful memories-both bitter and sweet. But I am grateful for every moment we shared," he adds.

As the world bids farewell to Abhijeet Majumdar, Nirmal’s heartfelt tribute to his late friend stands as a reminder of the profound legacy left behind by a man whose music will live on forever. In his final message, Nirmal prays for Abhijeet’s soul to find peace, and though their paths may have diverged in this life, he knows that their connection remains, immortal in the music they created together.
