Miscreants loot over ₹15 Lakh worth of Gold Jewellery in Burla

Burla, Feb 19: In a major robbery, dacoits decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs.15 lakhs from the house of a police officer and cash amounting to ₹20,000. The incident took place when the house was vacant, allowing the thieves to break in and loot the property.

According to reports, after a complaint was filed at the Burla Police Station, the authorities registered a case and launched an investigation. A scientific team was also called to collect evidence from the crime scene.

It was revealed that ASI Sangeeta Panda, who is currently stationed in Puri district, had previously been posted at Burla Police Station. The officer, along with her husband and daughter, resides in the government quarters for the daughter’s schooling. The husband was away for work on the day of the theft and was absent for two days. Upon returning home, the family found that the front door lock was broken, and three almirahs had been damaged, with gold jewelry missing from the house.
