Bhubaneswar, May 13: As part of a new initiative to curb reckless, drunk, and errant driving, Bhubaneswar police have begun night-time vehicle checks across the city. During one such inspection near Chandrasekharpur, a minor was caught driving a car.
The young driver lost control of the vehicle during the check and accidentally hit an Infosys officer while pressing the accelerator instead of the brake. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the incident.
The police seized the car and detained the minor, while informing the family about the incident. Since the driver was operating the vehicle without a valid license, authorities have also issued a notice stating that the vehicle owner may face a fine of up to ₹25,000 under the law.
Chandrasekharpur police are handling the case, and further investigation is underway as night-time checks continue across Bhubaneswar to ensure road safety.
