Balangir, Oct 18: Police recovered the bled body of an 11-year-old boy from the foothills of a forest in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday.
While the mysterious death of the minor who had gone missing a few days ago put police in a crossword puzzle, the bereaved parents alleged it a case of human sacrifice.
The gruesome incident took place at Jhalialiti village under the Lathor police limits in Balangir district.
The deceased has been identified as Somnath Bemal of Jalpankel village.
According to reports, Somnath had gone out to play on Thursday evening and did not return home. Despite a long search, he could not be traced out anywhere by the family members and relatives. Finally, a ‘missing’ report at the Lathor police station was lodged in this connection.Meanwhile, the body of the child was found lying on the hillside of the village forest on Thursday.
The police recovered the body from the spot, completed the inquest and sent it for postmortem.
Later, a scientific team joined the investigation to examine the parent’s anticipation.
It’s suspected as a murder case. Further investigation is underway to ascertainit, if the boy was sacrified before a deity or for other purpose.
