Athagarh, Nov 4: Agriculture Minister Ranendra Pratap (Raja) Swain is preparing for his son to take over from him in Athagarh Assembly constituency that has been his home turf since his first victory in 1990.
The firebrand leader and seven-time MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain has turned Athagarh into a pocket borough for BJD.
According to party sources, Swain is gearing up for political debute of his son Aditya Pratap Swain. During the recent Jan Sampark Padyatra Raja's camp left no stone unturned to introduce his son in almost all gram panchayats of Athagarh and Tigiria blocks of his constituency.
Raja Swain joined the Padyatra for a day only and son Aditya Pratap joined the party's people connect programme in two to three gram panchayats daily. And no senior party observer, local MP and district-level office bearers of the party were included in Aditya Pratap's Patyatra rally. The Minister's close aides were at every step with his son and used to introduce him as Supreme Court lawyer or youth social worker before people.
Besides, Aditya Pratap's photos are surfacing in posters and banners in all festivities and political programmes.
The youth, student activists of the party and Self-Help Group members are joining every event attended by Aditya, including government programmes.
