Bhubaneswar, June 24: The escalating conflict between Iran and the United States has begun to impact international aviation, with Bhubaneswar Airport among the latest to feel the effects. IndiGo Airlines has announced the suspension of its direct flights between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi, citing airspace restrictions and safety concerns arising from the ongoing Middle East crisis.
Flights 6E 1442 (Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi) and 6E 1441 (Abu Dhabi to Bhubaneswar) have been cancelled until further notice. IndiGo confirmed that flight services to several other major Middle Eastern cities, including Dubai, Doha, and Jeddah, have also been temporarily suspended.
In an official statement, IndiGo assured passengers that operations would resume in a phased manner once airspace security is re-evaluated and deemed safe. Emirates Airlines has also issued an advisory, emphasizing that the safety of passengers remains their top priority.
The disruption comes just weeks after the launch of direct air connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi. The service, inaugurated on June 12 by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, operated thrice weekly—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
Authorities continue to monitor the geopolitical developments closely, with airlines maintaining flexibility to adapt to the rapidly changing security landscape.
