Visakhapatnam, September 5: Supreme Court Judge, Justice Surya Kant, underscored the pivotal role of mediation in enhancing access to justice and fostering the resolution of disputes with dignity. Speaking at the International Mediation Conference in Visakhapatnam, Justice Kant, the second senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, highlighted that justice should not be confined solely to the courtroom.

“Mediation plays a crucial role in restoring agency, upholding dignity, and fostering trust, which ultimately leads to quicker and more compassionate resolutions,” Justice Kant stated. He emphasized that mediation should be embraced as a constitutional value, bridging the gap in access to justice while ensuring that disputes are settled fairly and with respect.

He further stressed that integrating mediation as a foundational element of the legal process could bring about a transformative shift in how disputes are addressed in society, promoting a more inclusive and dignified approach to justice.
