Baripada, May 30: A shocking incident of alleged domestic violence ended in a double tragedy at Balivhol village under Karanjia police limits in Mayurbhanj district, where a woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, who was later found hanging in a nearby forest.

According to police sources, Chandra Tudu and his wife, Jyotsna Rani Tudu, reportedly had a heated argument on May 27 over an undisclosed issue. During the altercation, Chandra allegedly assaulted his wife, leading to her death.

After the incident, Chandra reportedly fled the village. On Saturday morning, villagers discovered his body hanging from a tree in a forest near the village and informed the police.

Preliminary investigation suggests that Chandra died by suicide after allegedly killing his wife. Karanjia police have recovered the body and registered an unnatural death case. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
