Bhubaneswar, June 7: BJP MP from Bhubaneswar, Aparajita Sarangi, was greeted with a grand reception by party workers and supporters upon her return to the Capital city following a five-nation tour as part of an Indian Parliamentary delegation. The visit was aimed at articulating India’s stance on terrorism and highlighting the strategic aspects of the recent Operation Sindoor conducted by the Armed Forces.

A large rally, organised by Bhubaneswar Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, Khurdha MLA Prasant Jagadev, Khurdha District BJP President Biswaranjan, Ashutosh Behera, Sarangi’s representative at Bhubaneswar Block, and hundreds of party leaders, escorted the MP from the Biju Patnaik International Airport to her office. Party workers and residents lined the streets to celebrate her return, waving flags and chanting slogans in support.

Addressing the media, Sarangi shed light on the tour’s objectives and outcomes and responded to Opposition calls for a special session of Parliament to deliberate on Operation Sindoor.

“It was an honour to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders — from political leaders and women’s organisations to youth forums, think tanks, and community associations,” she said. “The Indian diaspora was present in large numbers wherever we went, and the discussions were both meaningful and inspirational.”

Sarangi noted that the delegation carried a clear directive from Prime Minister Narendra Modi: to assert India’s uncompromising stance on terrorism and communicate the evolving security doctrine of the country.

“India’s strategic posture has changed. We are now operating under a ‘New Normal’ — zero tolerance and immediate, decisive response,” she said.

Reflecting on Operation Sindoor, Sarangi stated, “In just four days, more than 100 terrorists were neutralised, major terror infrastructure was destroyed, and 11 high-value targets were eliminated. But this came at a heavy cost — we lost 26 lives, including innocent tourists. Their sacrifice is etched in our national memory and will never be forgotten.”

She described the global reception to the Indian delegation as overwhelmingly positive and highlighted the unity displayed across party lines during the tour.

“It was heartening to see representatives from five different Indian political parties speak in a unified voice. There was shared conviction and clarity in every interaction,” she remarked.

In response to the Opposition’s demand for a special session of Parliament, Sarangi dismissed the need for it.

“I don’t see any justification for a special session. Out of 59 MPs from 35 countries in the delegation, only 20 were from the BJP. The rest included members from Congress, TMC, JD(U), CPI(M), and others. If we can present a united front internationally, there’s no reason for political divisions at home,” she stated. “Even senior leaders in Delhi acknowledged the sense of purpose and coordination we displayed.”

Sarangi was part of the parliamentary delegation led by senior MP Sanjay Jha.
