Bolangir, May 22: A major fire broke out at an electricity transformer in Adarsha Pada area of Bolangir city late last night, completely destroying the unit. The incident reportedly occurred around 12:40 a.m., causing a power outage in the surrounding neighborhood.

Local residents noticed sparks and flames coming from the transformer and immediately informed the electricity department. Authorities also alerted the fire brigade, which promptly reached the site and worked to control the blaze.

Despite quick action, the transformer was fully engulfed in flames and was completely burnt. No casualties have been reported so far.

The incident has raised concerns over the maintenance and safety of power infrastructure in the area, as residents experienced both disruption of electricity supply and the hazards posed by such fires.
