Ahmedabad, July 19: At least eight people died and more than 10 others sustained serious injuries in a fire mishap occurred in a firecracker factory in Ahmedabad.

The incident took place near Ramol-Gatrad Road in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

According to reports, an explosion occurred at the firecracker factory which led to a massive fire. The fire spread rapidly across the premises, leaving the factory completely destroyed.

Receiving information, the Rapid Action Force reached the spot and launched a rescue operation. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of eight people and brought out several critical ones and rushed them to hospital.

According to officials, more than 10 workers suffered serious injuries in the incident. However, details regarding their condition were not immediately available.

Police have initiated an investigation into the matter with registration of a case in this connection.
