Massive assets unearthed in Vigilance raids on former Odisha govt official

Bhubaneswar, June 30: In a major crackdown, Odisha Vigilance has uncovered disproportionate assets worth crores during searches on properties linked to Sri Dayanidhi Bagh, former Project Director (currently Joint Director) in the Office of the Director, Soil Conservation and Watershed Development, Government of Odisha.

The raids, conducted across multiple locations in Bhubaneswar, Nabarangpur, and Bhawanipatna, have so far unearthed a staggering list of assets in the name of Bagh and his family members. Among the major findings are:

  • A 3-BHK flat (1450 sq. ft.) at Mahanadi Apartment, Gothapatana, Bhubaneswar.
  • An under-construction building (3000 sq. ft.) at Padalguda near Majhiguda Chhaka, Nabarangpur.
  • A building located at Housing Board Colony, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar.
  • A shopping complex with five shops covering 1400 sq. ft. near Nabarangpur Town.
  • A farmhouse spread across 40 acres at Bijraguda, Nabarangpur, equipped with drip irrigation, with an estimated investment of Rs. 1 crore.
  • Another farmhouse over 6 acres at Phatakote, Nabarangpur, also with drip irrigation, worth approximately Rs. 34 lakhs.
  • 11 acres of land on the outskirts of Bhawanipatna town.
  • Bank deposits amounting to Rs. 55 lakhs.

Additional deposits and investments currently under verification.

One benami four-wheeler (Maruti Brezza), which is under scrutiny.

The Vigilance Department's Technical Wing is currently assessing the exact measurements and valuation of the properties and other assets. Searches are still underway and further revelations are expected.

This case underscores a growing concern about corruption and accumulation of disproportionate assets among public servants. Vigilance officials stated that a detailed report will follow as the investigation progresses.
