Bargarh, April 10: The security forces in Odisha’s Bargarh unearthed a Maoist dump in the Gandhamardan forest.
As the Mao-cadres reportedly fled away from their den, a huge cache of Naxalite articles including ammunition and uniform with other incriminating materials, were concealed in the forest.
Sources said as a part of joint exercise of the Odisha police, Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Focre (DVF) ahead of the general election to deal with left wing extremist (LWE) activities, a contingent of security forces initiated a combing operation in the Gandhamardan hill on Tuesday.
On being aware of signature of the security forces, the ultras opened fire at them to which the forces answered back. However, the Maoists managed to flee from that area taking advantage of dense forest and hilly terrain.
