Keonjhar, Oct 24: A shocking incident from Sadangi village under Anandapur police limits has come to light after a video showing a man and a woman being paraded around the village with garlands made of footwear went viral on social media.

Following the viral footage, police registered a case (No. 286/25) and arrested four villagers- identified as Minati Ho (25), Lambodhar Ho (35), Bani Purti (20), and Dandara Ho (26)- for their alleged involvement in the public humiliation. The accused were produced before the court, informed Anandapur Police Station IIC Faninra Nayak.

According to police sources, the incident occurred when a young man from Sadangi village, after completing work in his paddy field, stopped at the village square to drink handia (a local rice beer). A woman offered him some and returned home, but the man reportedly followed her inside.

Noticing this, some villagers locked the house from outside. When the woman’s husband returned, several villagers dragged both the man and the woman out, forced them to wear garlands made of footwear, and paraded them around the village as punishment.

After the video of the act surfaced online, it sparked outrage and prompted swift police action leading to the arrests. Authorities have condemned the incident and assured strict legal measures against those involved.
