Rourkela, June 8: In a major crackdown on illegal gambling activities, police conducted raids at multiple houses linked to two alleged gamblers in Luakera village on the outskirts of Rourkela.
The raids were carried out at three houses belonging to Dilip Kansari and Bahan Kansari, who are suspected of being involved in organized gambling operations. Police sources said the duo had been under surveillance for some time over allegations of earning crores of rupees through gambling activities.
A large police contingent, including two platoons of force, was deployed during the operation to ensure smooth execution of the raids.
During the searches, police seized more than ₹10 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, gambling-related materials, and several important documents believed to be connected to the alleged illegal activities.
Police also detained Dilip Kansari, Bahan Kansari, Bahan’s elder son, and the son of his elder brother for questioning in connection with the case.
Although the raid operation has concluded, investigators are now focusing on uncovering the wider network linked to the gambling racket. Police are examining documents and other evidence seized during the searches to identify additional individuals who may have been involved in the operation.
Further investigation is underway, and officials are expected to reveal more details after completing the preliminary inquiry.
