Phulbani, July 17: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, the Kandhamal district police have recovered a large cache of Maoist materials including nearly 600 detonators and a remote-control device, from the Gumma Reserve Forest.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding Maoist activity in the region, Kandhamal Superintendent of Police led a high-risk combing operation under the anti-Naxal command. The operation was launched in the dense forests under the jurisdiction of Kotagarh Police Station, with support from the District Voluntary Force (DVF) and a bomb disposal unit.
The team reached the suspected site with maximum caution and carried out a thorough search. The bomb disposal squad successfully neutralized any potential threats before opening the hidden cache. The recovered materials point towards a possible plot by Maoist insurgents to target security forces during patrols and combing operations.
Authorities suspect that the recovered detonators were intended for use against security personnel in the region. Security forces have intensified search and surveillance efforts in the area, and combing operations remain underway to track down any further threats.
