Berhampur, April 8: At least 11 persons were injured as an LPG cylinder went off in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
The incident took place in the Amundi village under the Patrapur block limit in the evening.
Sources said, a woman from one Prasant Kumar Behera alerted the family members about leakage of LPG from a cylinder. Acting on it, family members accompanied by neighbours rushed to the spot to check the problem. Meanwhile, the gas cylinder exploded all of a sudden. As a result, as many as 11 persons sustained critical burn injuries. At the same time, the house was fully devoured within no time as flames engulfed it.
On being informed, Fire services personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the injured ones. They were sent to the Chikiti Hospital for treatment.
Four of them were later referred to the MKCG Hospital & Medical College for higher-end care, as their health conditions deteriorated.
