<strong>Leakage in Paradip-Haldia crude oil pipeline network in Odisha</strong>

Paradip, May 26: The Paradip-Haldia crude oil pipeline of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has ruptured near the IOCL township in Paradip town on Thursday. Following the rupture, the crude oil spilled out of the pipeline and flooded into the nearby areas wreaking concern for the farmers. Being informed of the mishap, fire Service personnel rushed to the spot to plug the leakage to avoid environmental hazards related to it. Meanwhile, technicians from the IOCL refinery assisted the Fire Service personnel to plug the leakage and restore the pipeline network. Anticipating any untoward incident in the affected areas, congregation and vehicular movements have been restricted to the oil-spread places. The reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained. Mending work is in progress on a war footing. Precautions and appropriate measures have been taken in order to avoid loss of lives and wealth, said an IOCL official.
