Baripada, June 16: In a tragic incident at Nalagaja village in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday, a man brutally killed his younger brother over a land dispute. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Rasgobindpur police station.
The accused, Arun Mahana, allegedly killed his younger brother, Jayant Mahana, due to a disagreement over the boundary of their respective houses. According to sources, both brothers, sons of Debendra Mahana, had been involved in ongoing land disputes for a long time, leading to frequent altercations.
On Sunday at 8 a.m., Jayant was attempting to fence the boundary of his house when a fierce argument erupted between the brothers. In a fit of rage, Arun assaulted Jayant with a sword, repeatedly striking his neck and killing him instantly.
Upon being informed of the incident, Rasgobindpur police station in-charge Sukant Korei and his team arrived at the crime scene. Meanwhile, Arun fled on a motorbike, taking the murder weapon with him. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
