Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: Kin of a young merchant navy official from Odisha’s Bhadrak district are weeping for help, as he went missing in the Indian Ocean from Monday(February 2).

He was on duty aboard a vessel near Malaysia.

The missing official has been identified as Sarthak Mahapatra, a cadet of Anglo-Eastern Ship Management and a crew member of the EA Jersey vessel.

According to report, Sarthak went missing during his voyage to Singapore from West Africa.

According to the company’s intimation, Sarthak was found missing in the vessel. He was last seen entering his cabin on the morning of February 3.

Following this,a search operation was immediately launched across the vessel, but in vain.

On being informed,Sarthak’s mother appealed to the Odisha government and Center to expedite the search operation to locate her son soon.
