Khordha, September 21: In view of the forecast of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across Odisha, all schools in Khordha district will remain closed from September 22 to September 24, 2026, as a precautionary measure.
According to an order issued by the District Project Office, Samagra Shiksha, Khordha, the closure will apply to government, government-aided, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and privately managed schools covering classes from Sishu Vatika to Class XII.
However, the order specifies that the NRST examinations scheduled for September 22 will be conducted as per the BSE Odisha schedule at the designated 13 examination centres.
Teachers, staff to remain at schools
While students will stay home during the three-day closure, teachers and other school staff have been instructed to remain at their respective schools as usual. The order states that no casual leave (CL) will be allowed from September 22 to 24.
School authorities have also been directed to ensure that school buildings and essential facilities are kept ready to deal with the prevailing weather conditions.
Headmasters have been asked to prepare roster duties to keep schools accessible 24×7 and ensure cooperation with the district administration whenever required.
The order, issued on September 21 by the DEO-cum-DPC, Samagra Shiksha, Khordha, was circulated to headmasters of schools across the district and all Block Education Officers for necessary implementation.
