Keonjhar, June 17: Manisha Nayak from Joda, Keonjhar has earned a spot in the 24-member Indian Women’s Football Team for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, to be held in Thailand from June 22 to July 5.
Identified in 2015 by Tata Steel Foundation coach Badal Mahakud, Manisha rose from a rural background to national recognition through hard work and dedication. She joined the Sundargarh Sports Hostel in 2016, further honing her skills and catching the attention of national selectors.
Head coach Crispin Chhetri named her as a forward in the squad, making her the first player from Joda TSF to reach this milestone. Her selection has sparked celebrations across Keonjhar and inspired many young athletes.
Coach Mahakud expressed pride in her achievement and wished her continued success on the international stage.
