Keonjhar skeleton incident: Bank Officers’ Association defends Manager, opposes RDC probe

Keonjhar, May 2: The shocking incident involving Jitu Munda of Dianali village-who allegedly exhumed his deceased sister’s body to claim her bank deposits—has drawn nationwide attention and brought embarrassment to the district.

Following the incident, the Chief Minister ordered an RDC-level inquiry. Preliminary findings by the probe team reportedly indicate lapses on the part of bank authorities.

However, the Odisha Gramin Bank Officers’ Association has strongly opposed the inquiry and come out in support of the Mallipashi Gramin Bank. Addressing a press conference on Friday, the Association declared the bank manager, Sushant Kumar Sethi, completely innocent in the case.

The Association also criticised the RDC probe, alleging that it is damaging the reputation of both the bank and its officials. It further warned that if any action is taken against the manager, the Association will stand firmly in his support.
