Kendrapara, May 20: The construction of wooden chariot for the annual car festival in the 400-year-old Baladevjew temple in Kendrapara has hit the roadblock due to shortage of timber.
The chariot, which reaches upto 64 feet is the biggest chariot in the state as its height is more than that of the chariots of Jagannath temple in Puri.
A team of teh temple trust visited several forests to select timber but the forest department did not cooperate.
The forest department has suggested to contact timber from Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC), which is costlier.
Due to non-availability of sufficient wood, we are now using the old timber from the last year chariot, said a carpenter.
