Kataka, November 16: The Commissionerate Police will deploy additional security personnel across Kataka this year to ensure law and order, smooth traffic management and public safety during Durga Puja. Compared to last year, a larger number of security personnel are expected to be deployed to manage the festive rush and prevent any untoward incidents.

A company of the Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) Rapid Action Force (RAF), comprising more than 100 armed personnel, arrived in Kataka on Wednesday afternoon. The force will be stationed in various sensitive areas of the city to assist the Commissionerate Police in maintaining law and order.

The deployment will remain in place from the beginning of the Puja festivities until the completion of the idol immersion processions.

Arrangements have been made to accommodate the paramilitary personnel, including officers, at the Kataka Municipal Corporation’s Kalyan Mandap near Biju Bhawan.

A deployment plan has been prepared for sensitive locations across the city, including Dargah Bazaar, Hatipokhari, Kesharpur, Buxi Bazaar, Jobra and Howrah Motor Chhak. The plan specifies the number of personnel to be stationed in each area based on security requirements.

According to reports, around 60 platoons of police personnel are likely to be deployed across Kataka this Durga Puja, in addition to the paramilitary force. The enhanced security arrangements aim to ensure peaceful celebrations and effective crowd and traffic management throughout the festive period.
