Indore, January 17: Congress leader and opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday held the government accountable for the deaths resulting from contaminated drinking water in Indore, known as the cleanest city in India. He questioned the effectiveness of the so-called urban model, highlighting the government's failure to ensure basic public health standards.

During his visit to meet affected patients and their families in Bhagirathpura, where an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea has been linked to water contamination, Rahul stressed that "clean water is a fundamental public right." He further criticized the Central government, pointing out the irony of a so-called "smart city" like Indore lacking access to safe drinking water.
