Bhubaneswar, October 8: Union Minister Jual Oram today expressed optimism about the BJP's prospects in the upcoming Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections, following the party's strong performance in the Haryana elections.

Speaking in Bhubaneswar, Oram highlighted that the victory in Haryana signals favorable outcomes for the BJP in these upcoming state elections.

He acknowledged that while the BJP did not perform as expected in Jammu & Kashmir, the participation and trust shown by the voters in the electoral process reflect their belief in the central government and a desire for continued development.

Oram also pointed out that the peaceful conduct of elections in Jammu & Kashmir is itself an achievement for the party, even if a majority wasn't secured.

Regarding Haryana, Oram attributed the BJP's success to what he termed the "Selja factor"—the humiliation of Dalit leader Selja Kumari and the authoritarian approach of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

He emphasized that the public's dissatisfaction with Congress, especially regarding Dalit leadership, helped the BJP win.

Echoing these sentiments, Odisha's Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan praised the "double engine government" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attributing the BJP’s success in Haryana to its governance model.

Odisha BJP workers also celebrated the Haryana results, expressing confidence in the party’s continuing success in upcoming elections across the country, including Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Delhi.
